Council relations hits new low

Given the latest spat on Wigan council,  this time between staff and councillors how can anyone say UKIP can't do better?

Council and Councillor locked in explosive dispute

What the inside story to this is anyone's guess, but this is the same Councillor that Lord Smith insulted at the last council meeting. That Councillor and others made a complaint, days later staff refused to work with him and he is front page news...

One things assured UKIP Wigan will lead the way and work with staff and Councillors from all political parties in a polite and professional manner.

Lord Smith of the Labour party ....

Lord Smith of the Labour party throws an insult in the direction of a disabled independent councillor in a public meeting.

Not exactly a credit to Wigan, is it a surprise he closed 'The Pines' resulting in 24 disabled people having to move from a place they called home.

HS2 Phase Two Route Consultation Roadshows

If you're curious as to where £80 billion of your taxes will be going in the next 10 years then the HS2 road show is taking place at;

Leigh Sports Village Stadium on Friday 22nd November 12pm – 8pm
Sale Way, Leigh, Manchester, WN7 4JY

A report by the Institute of Economic Affairs released today supports the UKIP position that HS2 is a costly and unnecessary project that should be scraped.
The report predicts that the final cost of HS2 may run to over £80 billion. At a time of tremendous economic difficulty for Britain fueled by a bloated state and increasing national debt, this is simply not viable.

"The High-Speed Gravy Train" report also points out that much of the lobbying done for the project to go ahead was done by special interest groups with a vested interest, with the economic case for High Speed 2 not being properly taken into consideration.

Labour fraud

Labour councillors are very keen to criticise people committing benefit fraud at the moment.

Coun Terry Halliwell, portfolio holder for corporate resources and customers at Wigan Council said: “Wigan Council takes benefit fraud very seriously, as demonstrated in Mrs Dyson’s case and the numerous others we’ve
successfully prosecuted this year

Coun Terry Halliwell, cabinet member for corporate resources and customer services at Wigan Council, said: “There are people in our communities that go to work every day and pay their taxes - yet struggle to just get by. “Then there are people like Ms Higgins who fraudulently take what is not theirs. “Justice has been served in this case.”

Although not surprisingly they lose their voice when its their own...
